One of the newest advances in dental technology is the introduction of a replacement for braces called Invisalign. They are nearly invisible while they align your teeth.
Not every dentist is able to give you this treatment as special instruction is required, but Dr. Nash is certified for this solution for various problems in your teeth’s alignment.

Just as with braces, all manner of problems that can cause your teeth to not be aligned properly. You may have an overbite or under bite. You may have crowded, or crooked teeth.
You may have gaps between teeth. Almost all problems that are correctable with metal braces can be taken care of with Invisalign.
There are a few extreme exceptions and your dentist will be able to advise you if you are a candidate for this new type of dental appliance.

Instead of relying on just dental impressions of your teeth, your dentist will use photographs and x-rays as well and this information is sent to the manufacturing arm of Invisalign.
They will be individualized for you on a computer model and once approved, you will be supplied with resin aligners which you will change every two weeks as your teeth move into their proper places.
Treatment averages about a year but for simple problems may be accomplished in less than six months, in both cases less than the average time for metal braces.
The Pros and Cons of Invisalign
Fortunately, the list of pros is longer than the list of cons. Your dentist will go over these with you when you are making the decision as to whether to select traditional braces or Invisalign.
One of the more important “cons” is cost, as Invisalign uses some high tech methods and entails some complex preparation.
A little extra care is needed like removal before eating and then cleaning both the teeth and Invisalign after the meal.
They also are to be worn 20-22 hours a day, allowing plenty of time for eating, drinking and brushing teeth.
The pros of course begin with the visual appearance (or disappearance!) of your “braces.” You will have no difficulty eating anything since you take them off during meals.
The faster treatment is nice, too and most people deem them more comfortable. This is a new product but studies seem to think they are about as effective as metal braces, too.
